FUNDRAISERS

Although we are a relatively small organization, we aspire to reach as many members of our community as possible. We know firsthand that addiction does not discriminate. In addition to our preventative education, family member support, and recovery outreach, we also hold fundraisers to at once raise awareness, raise funds, and raise our hands! Our annual fundraisers include a themed Gala—typically held in the winter—and Trails to Recovery, a 5k run/walk race that is typically held at Groton’s own Bluff Point in the spring or fall.

CSO 2021 VIRTUAL GALA AND AUCTION

Previously our annual gala has been held at the Mystic Marriott and it has been CSO’s major fundraising event. In 2021, due to COVID, we restructured the gala as a virtual event and included the auction. The Gala was a huge success due to so much support from local businesses and individual donors.

While the fundraising is critical in maintaining the daily operations of CSO, we are most excited about the opportunity to bring people together in the community to help us celebrate the successes of individuals in recovery, to acknowledge those that are struggling with the disease of addiction, and to remember loved ones we’ve lost to the disease.

This recording presents Danielle Medrano singing live at the 2020 Serenity Ball held in Connecticut's Mystic Marriott as CSO’s organizational video played.

2020 was the second year that CSO coordinated with COH and GASP for a night of awareness, celebration, remembrance.

This is Community Speaks Out’s (CSO) organizational video that played during the 2019 Emerald Ball at the Mystic Marriott. The night was a joint effort with Community of Hope and the Groton Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (GASP).

trails to recovery through the years 2017-2019

Community Speaks Out has hosted an annual 5k run/walk race at Bluff Point in Groton, CT, since 2017. We would not have been able to pull off such a successful annual event without the initiative and organizational skills of Dani, Ken, and Nancy Edwards. The race is Dani’s baby, and she has done a tremendous job on all aspects of the event. CSO and your community thanks you!

Unfortunately, the 2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to adjust our event to our new normal in the coming years.
